Description
February’s figure class will focus on a male model in seated position, in a Classical setting. This is one sustained pose for all four sessions (total of 12 hours).
During this time, the student will be guided in the Academic steps of placement, measuring, block-in, then mapping the light and shadow pattern, and accurately articulating the form. The last 2 sessions are then fully devoted to creating the variations of the darks and rendering the lights in all their beauty.
If you have some skill and knowledge in figure drawing, and wish to adopt the Classical method, this is a good opportunity to understand how to create a beautiful, highly-finished work.
Most beginner students are encouraged to draw in pencil first. For those who are more experienced, they may choose charcoal, chalk and charcoal, or oil painting in grisaille.
