Instructor: Joanne Thomson

This is a workshop to explore drawing and painting nature from direct observation. Joanne Thomson will guide participants through the wooded areas around the Coast Collective to gather information (sketches, notes and insights) and then will demonstrate ways to bring that information into the studio and translating it into paintings.

This course is designed for amateur artists who are comfortable with a painting medium. Please bring a hardcover sketchbook, portable stool, pencils or pens, clothing and footwear suitable for the weather, and your favourite painting materials. You will be working with dry medium outdoors and painting indoors. If you have questions about materials, please contact Joanne.

Joanne will demonstrate in watercolour, however, feel free to bring whichever medium you most enjoy, as the lessons about composition, observation and colour can be applied to all mediums.
