Join artist Brigitte Rice and Anne Marie Andrishak and explore your own ancestry or a different culture to creatively express yourself through the making of your own unique headdress (supplies included).

July 26 – September 7, 2013

This exhibition features fourteen innovative surface design artists who have created contemporary works inspired by historical and cultural headdresses. Headdresses have traditionally made a statement about the wearer and their cultural community. These artists have explored diverse cultures and historical artifacts to use as inspiration to make a creative statement about themselves and their own cultural environments. They have applied unique approaches and techniques utilizing traditional materials such as leather, felt, silk and feathers to found or repurposed objects, origami, and canvas, resulting in truly inventive work.

Artists: Kathleen Ainscough, Anne Marie Andrishak, Angelika Werth, Elif Akcali, Constance Chapman, Linda Coe, Jessica De Haas, Ellen Hamilton, Anni Hunt, Tristan Pearson, Julie Pongrac, Brigitte Rice, Cynthia Serfes, and Shawna Warmington
