Mixed Media and Collage

Mixed Media & Collage (MMED w103)

The focus of this workshop is on how to create more interesting surfaces on your drawings and paintings. The use of mixed media is a key way to create more visual interest in your work with a complex multi-layered surface. The first day is spent working with various combinations of wet and dry materials such as oil and chalk pastel and watercolour paint, wax crayons, pencils and ink to develop rich two-dimensional surfaces. On the second day, students build upon their surfaces to create relief using materials such as paste, glue, collage and sand. These surfaces are further enhanced by the addition of colour and detailed embellishment using line and pattern. No experience necessary.

October 19 & 20 Saturday & Sunday, 10am – 5pm
