Perspectives – Weekend Workshop

Instructor: Jim Dodd
This workshop will examine perspective using a combination of demonstrations, exercises, practice and discussion. Jim will guide you through basic perspective concepts ~ 1, 2, and 3 point perspective, as well as more general means of using perspective in the field. The Coast Collective’s site at Esquimalt Lagoon will serve as a great location to demonstrate and discuss how to find vanishing points, eyelines, etc., which will add more visual correctness to your sketches and paintings. Field work will be followed by demonstrations and exercises in the studio. Studio sessions will examine the principles of perspective used with foreshortening, depths, inclined planes, circles, arches, reflections, the sea and the sky.
