This workshop will focus on creating a compelling composition, pushing yourself outside your comfort zone — and learning to play at the same time.

Session 1 What are the important elements of a good composition? What makes a compelling one? Learn how to train your eye and be more mindful while composing your image. Learn the importance of lines, shapes, angles, perspective & more. There will be lots of tips, tricks and techniques to push your average ‘snapshots’ to a higher level. After the classroom session of discussion and image illustrations, we’ll explore the beautiful grounds around Pendray House to apply some of your new skills. A two part homework assignment will be given.

Session 2 We will review students’ assignment photos in detail, explore some photo editing techniques on the computer to improve your compositions, have some more field ‘play’ to practice your skills even further and review some other techniques.

Bring along your camera, charged batteries, clothing appropriate for the weather and a desire to have fun!
