The A to Z of Relief Printmaking – Saturday Workshop

$100.59

Description

Instructor: Nic Vandergugten

Standing beneath creaking pines on a foggy day, surrounded by the gnarled masses of trees many hundreds of years old, few have found our natural setting here in coastal British Columbia an easy subject in our art making. This class suggests that the practice of printmaking, which tasks us to free the space between objects in order to let the forms of things remain, can offer the artist a new and helpful way of deciphering this difficult subject. Suitable for people of all ages and skill levels, students will learn the basic steps of relief printmaking, from transferring a drawing, cutting the plate, and printing the image on a traditional cast iron screw press. Basic editioning traditions will be discussed, and at the end of the day each participant will take home a small edition of signed and numbered prints.
