Urban Weaving

Description

A course for beginners, weavers and artists who want to explore weaving and art-making with materials harvested sustainably from nature. We will cover the ecology, harvest and preparation of a range of local ‘weed’ plants and green waste, and a variety of techniques that can be applied to weaving flat forms, vessels or sculptures. Each class will
begin with an inspiring slideshow and discussion, followed by a demo and activity, culminating in the creation of a basket or vessel.

Rebecca Graham holds a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. She is an environmental artist specialized in weaving and sewing with natural materials. Her background includes studies in environmental ethics and agriculture as well as fine art and fashion design.
